Our vineyard is located on the banks of the Little Sugar River just
outside the beautiful village of Monticello, WI.
The vineyard has three
varieties of red wine grapes.
Marechal Foch is a very early ripening black grape with small berries that produce a fruity, light red table vine.
Marquette is a new red wine variety from the University of
Minnesota with high levels of cold hardiness and disease resistance.
This is ideal for the cold Wisconsin winters. Marquette grapes have an
excellent wine quality with an attractive deep red color. The wine
features the desirable aromas of cherry, black pepper, spice and berry
with a substantial tannin structure rarely found in hybrid wines.
The third variety is a Cornell University hybrid called Noiret.
This varietal produces an outstanding full bodied, richly colored wine
with distinct green and black pepper character and moderate tannin
content. These wines have aromas of raspberry, blackberry, and mint.
All the nursery stock for the vineyard was purchased from Double A Vineyard located in Fredonia, NY.
We have carefully planted the vines now we await the grapes to mature so we can begin making wine.
